About Denise and Kuhntastic Health
Who I Am
Hi, I am Denise Kuhn, owner of Kuhntastic Health and a 20 year veteran of the Rehabilitation Industry. As a physical therapist in the outpatient orthopedic and skilled nursing settings, I have been exposed to intriguing food and medication prescription that sparked my desire to learn more about natural health. As a result, I am now a doTERRA Wellness Advocate, an Institute for Integrative Nutrition Graduate/Health Coach, a Foundation Training Instructor, a certified Functional Movement Systems practitioner and a certified Breathwork Practitioner.
The knowledge I have gained in the nutrition and specialty movement arenas, is changing the method of health and wellness I use for my patients, my clients, and my family. Instead of being reactive, I now chose a proactive path that integrates modern and alternative interventions. Both health care models have merit and an important place in our society. I believe that teaching people this marriage of philosophies and how to make healthy daily choices will empower them to create healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives that are likely to be free of disease and chronic illness.
My Background
I am a native of Long Beach, California where I spent most of my time in a gym or at the beach. I guess you could say I was a beach bum, as I enjoyed countless hours of biking, skating, swimming, and playing volleyball. This active life led me to the University of Oregon where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. I also earned the honor of being a Duck Volleyball Alumni. After college, I returned home to Long Beach where I worked three years as a volleyball coach and a physical therapy technician. Through this experience, I decided that Physical Therapy was the profession for me. In 1996, I earned my master’s degree in physical therapy at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pomona, California.
Education
I treasure the education I attained at school and on the road. While in school, I gained the ability to stick to something, even when it is difficult or mundane. While I was traveling, I gained the knowledge of adaptability, differences in culture, and differences in people. I believe that my education and my travels to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and 20 states taught me that there are many different ways of living, eating, and thinking. I remain passionate about education and travel because it is from these experiences that I have been able to maintain an open mind and a wide perspective on what makes people who they are.
Personal Treasure
My most valued treasure and accomplishment is being the mother of a 18-year-old male. My love for him is the force that drives me to learn more about natural health. He is also the force behind my decision to venture out on my own. As a health coach, a doTERRA wellness advocate, a blogger, a specialty trainer, and an entrepreneur, I believe I can create the life I have always dreamed of. I can live a life that provides for my financial needs, my happiness, my health, and my freedom of time. Aside from health, I see time as our greatest asset. We should not have productivity standards or quotas dictating where we spend our time. We should be able to spend it as we see fit- enjoying the our friends, our family, and the beautiful planet we live on.

Why Kuhntastic Health?
My physical therapy career still suits me, as I value helping people, interacting with people, and showing people how to stay mobile. However, I have always felt that pieces of the puzzle were missing. Why do we have the “repeat offenders” in for treatment every 6 months, with a new ailment? What is causing younger and younger people to be hospitalized for disease that only “old” people experienced in the past? How is it that there are more “syndromes”, with no known cause, are popping up every year?
The answer lies in the fact that we cannot separate the parts from the whole; we are not machines. We may be able to fix parts, but we often do so while dismissing the rest of the system. When we treat the parts, without treating the whole, we are missing most of what ails or cures us. As I learned as a student at IIN, we must attend to our relationships, our career, our spirituality, our physical body and the food we eat to be healthy, happy, and balanced.
Site Goal
Wellness is not the sum of the minutes one exercises or the number of calories one counts. Instead, It is one’s ability to listen to the physical, emotional, and spiritual response to the challenges they experience. Each person is instilled with an inner knowing. Unfortunately, stress and societal pressure have dampened our mind’s ability to appropriately respond to the “yes” or “no” signals the body sends. As a result, people lose sight of what it takes to stay healthy and happy. Consequently, the goal of Kuhntastic Health is to help individuals increase awareness of their internal alert system and to guide them on their journey of optimal wellness.
